Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson - born Jacqueline Luesby to Chris Watson and Jacqueline Luesby, two British lawyers, was born on August 8, 1989, in Paris. As a child, she went to her school, the Dragon School in Oxfordshire. Emma decided to be an actor at age six. Through the years, she attended the Oxford branch Stagecoach Theatre Arts part-time school. In the school, she was taught singing as well as dancing, and also acting. The film's release Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (2001) was Emma's cinematic screen debut. The film beat all previous records for its opening and weekend ticket numbers, and was the top-grossing 2001 film. Critics have praised both the film as well as the performances by the three principal young actors. The Daily Telegraph praised Emma for her excellent performance.
